About
Welcome to the Slade Discography website, which was launched in 2017 as a successor of the earlier Slade Cove website.
The material and information found here has been compiled and written over a number of years, and began with Wikipedia back in 2010. As a Slade fan of the new generation (I was born in 1994), I was surprised to find the online encyclopedia had such limited content on the band, particularly regarding individual singles and albums. The existing pages were generally limited to a short paragraph and basic details, while many of Slade's singles did not even have their own pages, including big hits such as "Look Wot You Dun", "Everyday", "Far Far Away", "We'll Bring the House Down" etc.
This inspired me to begin delving into various resources such as old fan club magazines and books to create and build up those articles. The work was carried out over the course of a few years and included the creation of my own Slade website too (The Slade Cove), which allowed me to publish further articles such as on solo material. Both projects proved to be great learning curves for me and I hope they created greater awareness and easier access to the details behind the band's extensive recording career. Beforehand there had never been an effort to create a comprehensive guide to the band's recording career and I wanted to correct that.
Later in 2017, with a wealth of new material and archives available to me, I decided to create the new and improved Slade Discography Website. Firstly the band's content on Wikipedia was tidied up and then work began on the website. Many old music reviews, interviews and other details were unearthed and compiled into the articles seen here today. Of course this would not have been possible without the efforts of a wide range of individuals, both professional and fans (or both!). The authors and sources of reviews and interviews etc are noted in the articles and acknowledgements to those who have made them available in one format or another can be found on the "Sources and Links" page.
